Soy division
While Rupp Seeds has been in the soybean business since early in
our history, the focus has primarily
been on the grain side of the soybean industry. With our involvement
in both grain soybeans and vegetable seed, it became natural for
us to look into the growing market for soy-based products. Our work
in this area was made possible when Duane Bell joined our staff
as plant breeder.
Duane came to us already having completed extensive work in vegetable
soybean breeding. During recent years, we've been refining the products
and now have vegetable soybean varieties ready for a multitude of
uses. Varieties are available with small seed size for the home
soy sprouting and sprouting industry; with medium seed size for
the tofu market; and very large seed size for home gardeners and
green soy producers as edamame soybeans.
Rupp Seeds intends to be a leader in variety development, using
traditional plant breeding techniques, for both the home gardener
and commercial grower.
